Comfortable Console Pet Car Seat

Putting your small dog in the front seat may not be safe if you have passenger side airbags. But if you don’t want your dog in the back seat (or if he won‘t stay in the back seat), consider a console pet car seat. A pet car seat for the console of your car straps around the console. There is also a strap inside the console pet car seat which you would clip onto the back of your dog’s harness. The strap around the console and the strap to your dog’s harness helps keep your pet secure in his seat. The console pet car seat also allows your dog to visit you in the front without causing a distraction by climbing into your lap.

The Console Pet Car Seat by Snoozer comes in two sizes and various colors. It is also very well padded for comfort. The lamb wool interior liner of the Snoozer Console Pet Car Seat makes it cozy for your dog on those long road trips.

In celebration of spring, Pet Auto Safety.com has reduced the price of the Sightseers Pet Car Seat. Little dogs can travel in comfort whether they are traveling in the car or being carried around town. That is because the Sightseers Pet Car Seat can be used as both a pet car seat and as a pet travel carrier. Just because your dogs are small and cute doesn’t mean you have to carry them around in a fluffy pink bag. Carry them in the classy looking Sightseers Pet Car Seat instead.

We recently received correspondence from one of our customers who purchased the Skybox Pet Booster Seat. Pam from Rockford, Illinois wrote us a wonderful letter about her experience. With her permission, we are sharing it here. First, she wrote about why she purchased a pet car seat. Her little Chihuahua mix named Salsa loves to ride in the car and he loves to look out the window. She used to let him ride in her lap until one day, she had to make a sudden stop. Poor Salsa got tossed into the gap of the steering wheel. Pam couldn’t turn and ended up hitting a car in front of her which she might have avoided if she had been able to swerve. Salsa was terrified and yelped for several minutes. Pam couldn’t leave the scene to take Salsa to the vet, so she comforted Salsa as best as she could while she exchanged information with the other driver and waited for police. But thankfully, by the time Pam got Salsa to the vet he was okay.

The next day, Pam bought our Skybook Pet Booster Seat. Pet Auto Safety.com had lots of car seats to choose from, but Pam chose the Skybox Pet Booster Seat because its orange color is close to the same color as Salsa. It works great, she said. At first, she thought Salsa wouldn’t like it because he was so used to sitting in her lap. But Salsa was far more interested in looking out the window than in sitting in her lap and the Skybox Pet Booster Seat allows him to do this in comfort. The Skybox Pet Booster Seat has a strap which attaches to the back of Salsa’s harness, so Salsa can look out the window in safety and Pam can feel comfortable knowing that Salsa is safe.

Thanks, Pam, for sharing this information with us! If you have a story about an incident with your dog in the car, share it with us. You don’t have to buy any of our products in order to share your story, but we would like to hear that your dog now rides safely in the car.

Pet Auto Safety.com has recently added two new products. Well, they are not really new as they have been on the market for some time. But this is the first time we are offering them on our website.

The first one is the Kurgo Wander Dog Car Hammock in black. We have had the tan Wander Dog Car Hammock on our site for well over a year now. And it has been so successful that we have decided to add the black Wander Dog Car Hammock.

The second one is the Full-Size Lookout Perch Pet Car Seat. We have had the Half-Bench Lookout Perch Pet Car Seat was added to our site last year, but we did not add the Full-Size Lookout Perch Pet Car Seat until this new year.

Both the Wander Dog Car Hammock and the Lookout Perch Pet Car Seat are great pet auto safety devices for your dog. The Wander Dog Car Hammock keeps your dog in the back seat and from getting thrown onto the floor. They also have zipper openings for the seat belt of your car so that your dog can wear a dog car seat belt and be doubly protected. The Lookout Perch Pet Car Seat is great for larger dogs up to 70 pounds. It is the biggest pet car seat we have. Strapping your dog into the Lookout Perch Pet Car Seat provides as much protection as a dog car seat belt, but is much more comfortable.

Pet Auto Safety.com has lots of pet car seats. The most comfortable ones are made by Snoozer. Check out the Lookout pet car seat, the Lookout Deluxe pet car seat, My Buddy pet car seat, the Snoozer Console pet car seat, Lookout Perch pet car seat, and the RollAround pet car seat. All these pet car seats are all made by Snoozer.

The Lookout pet car seat is very thickly padded. So is the Lookout Deluxe pet car seat. The only difference is that that the Lookout Deluxe pet car seat has a storage tray on the bottom of the pet car seat. Both these items have several colors to choose from.

The My Buddy pet car seat is just like the Lookout Deluxe but much bigger.

The Snoozer Console pet car seat is like the Lookout pet car seat but much smaller and made to strap on to the console rather than strap in with the car seat belt.

The Lookout Perch pet car seat is a different style and is made for larger pets.

And the RollAround pet car seat is also a pet carrier and back pack.

seat

Some dogs don’t like to ride in the car. Sometimes it is because they are scared of the car and their tummies get upset, and sometimes it is because the movement of the car doesn’t agree with them. If your little dog gets car sick in the car because of the movement, a pet car seat may be able to help. Ever read a book in the car (while someone else is driving, of course) and felt a little sick. For whatever reason, Our eyes on a stationary object while our brains are registering movement causes us to get a little car sick. The same can go for dogs. If your little dog is in a car, they probably can’t see any of the movement that their body can feel. So if your little dog can sit in a pet car seat, they can see out the window and this might help them from getting car sick.

Besides a pet car seat, here are some other things which might help keep your dog from getting car sick:
*Don’t allow your dog to eat or drink excessively before a car ride.
*Start getting your dog used to the car by taking them on short trips.
*Open a car window to give your dog fresh air
*If your dog is nervous in the car, distract them with a fun toy. Do what you can to make car riding fun. Nervousness can sometimes cause car sickness.

A pet car seat may not only help with car sickness, it may also save your pet’s life.

Lola Driving the Car

Ever wonder what would happen to your dog if you got into a car accident?  Believe it or not, it happens more than you think.  We have a couple of blog posts which link to dogs who survived a car accident and managed to get home only after being lost for several days.  But the only time reports are made about dogs in car accidents are the reports in which a dog miraculously survives.  I suppose it isn’t newsworthy when it is just another dog who died in the car.  But it happens and it is tragic.

So what is the least which could happen if your dog is in a car accident?  The least is that the dog will get tossed about a bit and suffer a frightening experience.  The incident could be so traumatic that your dog may not want to ride in the car again.

What’s the worst that could happen?  Lots of things.  Your dog could get thrown from the vehicle where it could die or even be hit by another car on the road.  Your dog could fly forward and hit a passenger, killing both the dog and the passenger.  A dog, no matter what size, could become a deadly projectile.  Your dog could get tossed around inside the car and break their legs, ribs, or even their neck.  They could suffer severe internal and/or external injuries.

How can you prevent this?  By having your dog wear a dog safety restraint when they are in the car.  A dog safety restraint can be a dog car seat belt, a pet safety seat, or even a safely secured dog crate.

Pet Auto Safety.com has added a new pet car seat from Snoozer. This pet car seat, called the Roll Around Pet Car Seat, has been crash tested in a car seat position (with all zippers closed) for a 30 pound dog at 30 miles per hour. But safety is not its only feature. The Roll Around Pet Car Seat can also be used as a back pack, pet carrier, and pet bed. You can travel with your dog just about anywhere, whether by car or airplane, because the Roll Around Pet Car Seat can fit under most airline seats.
