Driving down the highway, you’re almost guaranteed to see at least one person with a small dog on their lap. While people think this activity is harmless because the dog is small, this is actually a dangerous activity for the dog and the owner. Having a dog on your lap is extremely distracting. This can take your attention away from the road and can increase your likelihood of getting into an accident.
Even if you’re involved in something minor like a fender bender, it could be seriously harmful for your dog. Being unsecured, your dog could slam into any number of car parts from the windshield to the steering wheel. But you don’t have to stop traveling with your small dog altogether. Just be smart about your travel plans and invest in a dog car seat. These car seats will be a comfortable way for your dog to travel, and with the ability to strap them in, they’ll actually be much safer as well.
